TIP: When measuring your wrist for a bracelet, the size of the bracelet should be at least 1/4" to 1/2" larger than your wrist measurement, depending on if you want a perfect fit or a little room left over. You do not want the bracelet to be too snug or too loose. Take a tape measure, wrap it around your wrist at the area you would like to wear your bracelet and then allow an extra 1/4" to 1/2 inch...or to your comfort. When opening a bracelet that has a magnetic clasp, slide the two ends apart, from the side. You do not want to loosen your magnet by pulling straight outward on it. When putting on or taking off your bracelets, use the clasp. Do not pull the bracelet over your hand. With bracelets that do not stretch you do not want to cause breakage of components or beading material. Sterling silver, sterling silver plated, copper and gold plated metals tarnish. To keep your jewelry sparkling, get a jewelry polishing cloth. It will keep your jewelry looking new. If you choose, you can also put your jewelry in zip lock bags, which will help retard tarnishing. Some people actually like the tarnished look because it lends and antique look to the piece. It actually looks very nice.
TIP: When putting on a cuff bracelet, you want to be careful not to pull it open. Constant opening and closing of metal will make it break. On the underside of your wrist, about two inches down, there is a soft spot. With the palm of your hand always facing so that the thumb is on the up side, hold the cuff bracelet so that the opening is facing your inner arm. Press the bottom arm of the bracelet into the soft spot below your wrist and rotate your wrist into the bracelet. When you are ready to take the bracelet off, rotate your wrist so the the thumb is pointing up and remove the bracelet as you are rotating. You can adjust the bracelet to the shape of your wrist once you first put it on.
TIP: When putting on a stretch bracelet, roll it over your hand and onto your wrist. This helps to keep the bands from stretching out or breaking.
Note: On bracelets that have magnetic clasps...if you prefer to have a hook-type clasp, sent me a message via the contact form.
